Status: Full-Time 


JOB DESCRIPTION 

The Student Ministry/Second Street Campus Pastor is responsible for overseeing the Student Ministry as well as implementing Cornerstone’s vision and mission in the Second Street Campus. This position’s time and focus would be split 75% on youth pastor ministry and 25% on campus pastor ministry. 


STUDENT MINISTRY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES (75%): 

1. Student Ministry Leadership and Direction: the Youth Pastor will provide direct oversight and leadership of the student ministry as follows: 

a. The Student Ministry Pastor will be responsible to execute the vision and mission of Cornerstone in the area of student ministry, including: 

i. Attending all student ministry events and activities; 

ii. Developing an adult point person at each congregation to be present at the services, interacting and engaging student ministry students and their families, and inviting them to functions; 

iii. Acting as the primary teacher during the main student ministry meetings; iv. Training and overseeing adult and teen leaders; 

v. Facilitating and leading CORE meetings; and 

vi. Overseeing weekly student life groups; 

b. The Student Ministry Pastor will be responsible to develop a ministry focused on discipleship: 

i. By teaching and modeling principles of disciple-making; 

ii. By encouraging students to put discipleship into practice; and 

iii. By coaching teen to teen ministry 

c. The Student Ministry Pastor will ensure that the ministry will strengthen the families of our church: 

i. By recruiting parent leaders when possible and appropriate; 

ii. By investing in the entire family of youth aged individuals; and 

iii. By planning regular family activities. 

2. Youth Group Administration: the Youth Pastor will provide direct administration of the youth ministry as follows: 

a. The Youth Pastor will be responsible to execute the administrative duties in furtherance of the youth ministry, including:

i. Oversight of the youth group budget; 

ii. Communication with students and parents; 

iii. Maintaining volunteer database and clearances; 

iv. Coordinating and planning youth group activities and trips, such as the

beach retreat, monthly events, etc.; 

v. Planning the calendar of events and the speaking schedule; 

vi. Tracking attendance and follow-up with students; and 

vii. Maintaining social media outlets for youth group. 

3. Youth Group Discipleship 

a. The Youth Pastor will regularly meet with students outside of formal youth group events for discipleship and mentoring. The Youth Pastor will further seek to build spiritual relationships with students in order to speak truth into their lives by attending important events in their lives (when feasible) and engaging in healthy activities with them (e.g. going to the movies or sharing a meal together) that strengthen the mentoring relationship. 

b. The Youth Pastor will regularly meet with the parents and families of students to partner with them in the discipleship and mentoring of their children. This can include working with the parents/families to grow in their ability to spiritually guide their children and/or to develop joint plans in how to most effectively shepherd their children toward maturity in their faith. 


CAMPUS PASTOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES (25% OF TIME) 

1. Preaching and Teaching: 

a. Preach the Word (Acts 14:15; 2 Tim. 4:2). 

i. Work under the direction of the Lead Pastor and be one of the principal “preachers”, discharging this duty with love, faithfulness, impartiality, and fearfulness, knowing that he will be held accountable for the welfare of the flock (Heb. 13:17) of the Second Street Campus. 

ii. Devote sufficient quality time for study and sermon preparation. 

iii. Strive to make the gospel relevant to people’s lives through clarity in preaching and communicating a comprehensive understanding of the Bible and theology. 

b. Teach the Word (2 Tim. 2:2). The teaching responsibilities may include:

i. Membership classes, Life Groups, etc. 

2. Discipleship: Equipping the saints for good works in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 4:11-12)

a. Strategically disciple and develop campus leaders through personal modeling, mentoring, and teaching 

b. Develop Life Group leaders and help oversee a robust Life Group ministry. 

c. Seek out those filled with the Holy Spirit and train them to minister, or help place them under the care of faithful disciple-makers. 

3. Leadership: (Romans 12:8) 

a. Meet with the Board as directed, recognizing their spiritual authority over the church.

b. Work in submission to the Lead Pastor, as the primary point of contact from the Board. 

c. Work with the other Campus Pastors to foster unity in our entire church

4. Pastoral Care and Outreach: 

a. Personal Life: Watch his life and doctrine closely, seeking the Lord in times of prayer, in study, and in accountable fellowship. 

b. Intercessory Prayer (Acts 6:4; Ephesians 6:18): Raise up people of prayer in both corporate and individual expressions. 

c. Public Worship: Oversee, lead, and order the worship for the Second Street Campus. Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit, leading the flock to love the Lord their God with all their hearts, souls, strength, and mind (Luke 10:27). 

d. Administering the Ordinances: 

i. The Ordinance of the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated regularly and will be

administered by the Campus Pastor (or his designees) under the guidance of the Lead Pastor. 

ii. Baptism will be administered by the Campus Pastor under the guidance of the Lead Pastor. 

iii. Visitation: Visit those in the Second Street Campus who are sick, with priority given to church members and those who are considered severely ill. 

iv. Counseling: Offer pastoral counseling at his discretion, giving priority to members of the church. 

v. Officiate Weddings and Funerals when authorized by the Lead Pastor.

vi. Managing Conflict: Work to facilitate peace among members of the staff and the Second Street Campus, seeking to win back the estranged and to reconcile those with broken relationships, particularly when such conflict threatens the welfare of the church. Review with the Lead Pastor and the Elders any conflicts, working together to determine solutions. 

vii. Refer people in difficult situations to appropriate ministries such as counseling or other social services. 

viii. Communicate with the Deacons in regard to the Benevolence fund, making sure the Church looks after the needs in the Body that Life Groups cannot meet. 

5. Administration: (Hebrews 13:17) 

a. Provide general oversight of the Second Street Campus, working in conjunction

with the other Campus Pastors in regard to campus administration. 

b. Help maintain the integrity of the Church in finances, in communications, in

scheduling, and in other administrative areas. 

c. Attend and contribute to the weekly staff meeting of Cornerstone Church. d. Emphasize membership for those attending the Second Street Campus. 


IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

1. The Calling of God to Pastor/Shepherd and the spiritual gifts of leadership and teaching. 

2. Demonstrated mastery of biblical doctrine. This can be demonstrated by academic training in a ministry-related field resulting in a bachelor’s degree or seminary training resulting in an advanced degree, or through experience teaching and preaching in the church environment. 

3. A minimum of 3 years experience as a staff member or a lay leader in a church,

demonstrating the capacity to provide pastoral care. 

4. Flexible schedule to accommodate activities in evenings and weekends, including Board Meetings, Committee Meetings, church events, visitation, and counseling. 

5. Excellent communicator in both verbal and written formats. 


EVALUATION & COMPENSATION

1. This position reports to the Lead Pastor, who will conduct an annual performance review. Compensation is reviewed annually by the Board. 

2. This position will be expected to work 45 hours per week. Compensation will be salary based on the applicant’s qualifications and experience, which compensation will be evaluated annually by the board. A benefits package will also be offered.
