CORNERSTONE CHURCH: KidMin Assistant
Responsible to: KidMin Director
Status: Part-time (15 hours per week)
Purpose
The KidMin Assistant is responsible for assisting the KidMin Director in facilitating Cornerstone’s ministry to children from the ages of infancy to 5th grade at all campuses in support of Cornerstone’s vision and mission. The KidMin Assistant will help the KidMin Director to develop strong teams that are dedicated to Christ’s commission to make disciples and eager to fulfill that commission as they work with children. The KidMin Assistant will actively support Cornerstone’s vision of seeing our children deeply rooted in God’s Word, firmly established in relationship to God and the Body, and abundantly fruitful in service to God and others.
Job Responsibilities and Duties
- ADMINISTRATION
- Supervise scheduling of volunteers for weekend ministries at all campuses
- Communicate with volunteers regarding reminders and other pertinent information
- Compile lessons for weekend ministries, develop activities/crafts to support lessons and oversee curriculum prep
- Provide support and respond to needs of volunteers on a weekly basis
- Regularly update database of children participating in Children’s Ministry
- Organize and maintain supplies relative to Children’s Ministry
- Assist the KidMin Director with various other weekly tasks
- MINISTRY
- Assist with Children’s Ministry needs at weekend services: Nursery (birth to 3 years) / Preschool / K-6th grade
- Assist in the planning and coordination of weekly programs such as Awana and After School Bible Club
- Assist in the planning and coordination of special children’s events such as Easter and Christmas services, Vacation Bible School.
- MOBILIZING LABORERS
- INVITE – invite volunteers to areas of Children’s Ministry that fit their individual passion and giftedness
- EQUIP – equip volunteers with all they need to be successful volunteers
- IDENTIFY – identify those with leadership giftedness and invite them into volunteer leadership
- TRUST – trust them with responsibility
- HONOR – honor all volunteers in fun and creative ways
- SUPPORT ROLES
- Recommend changes and modifications as needed to any established Children’s Ministry program and curriculum
- Assist in the continued development of safety and disciplinary guidelines for use in Children’s Ministry
- Assist in the coordination of childcare for special church-wide meetings/events, such as the Annual and Semi-Annual Congregational Meetings
Job Skills and Requirements
- Proficient in administration, organization and communication (both written and verbal)
- Experience compiling lesson plans and teaching
- Competent in computer systems and software, including word processing and electronic communication
- Flexible schedule to accommodate activities in evenings and weekends
- Experience in children’s ministry (three years preferred)
- Demonstrated capacity to build and lead effective teams
- A committed Christian and a regular participant in Cornerstone activities
Evaluation and Compensation
The Children’s Ministry Assistant reports to the Children’s Ministry Director who will conduct an annual performance review. Compensation is reviewed annually by the board.
